about that conversation on race

Here’s an actually courageous bit of conversation about the current state of rhetoric in the United States on the subject of relations between races, racism, and identifying racists.

Here’s the bit of conversation that got the ball rolling. It’s  a discouraging set of anecdotes, from the deli incident to the author’s conclusion. What does seem to be missing is any sense of explanation, any idea of possible forward progress. That’s a serious problem.
