Quote(s) of the day, Big Ten officiating edition

A fan of the University of Maryland noted the end of the era of regularly scheduled Duke basketball in College Park last Saturday, since Maryland (along with Rutgers) is joining the other 12 teams in the Big Ten.

As an alum of a Big Ten school (Illinois), I enjoyed these comments:

“Maryland [is] on the verge of leaving the ACC for the Big Ten — where, rumor has it, the referees don’t call fouls for breathing on an opponent.”

One of his colleagues from Minnesota writes, “You’re right about Big Ten officiating, the philosophy is: if it isn’t a felony, it isn’t a foul.”
