In Memoriam: Raymond Brown

Raymond Brown was a Roman Catholic New Testament scholar. While highly regarded as an expert in the books of the New Testament attributed to the apostle John, his writing ranged across the entire New Testament. One of his latest books was an Introduction to the New Testament, which is excellent. He also wrote two very detailed examinations of the accounts of Jesus’ death and of his birth. But of course his commentary on John’s Gospel remains a very valuable contribution to the study of that book.

Lest we forget.

One Response to In Memoriam: Raymond Brown

  1. John Powell says:

I have a couple of his books. I got to see him speak at the 1992 National Catholic Education Association conference here in St. Louis.
